Bricks
Bricks are an inherently sustainable building material. They are durable, require little or no maintenance and can be recycled at the end of their use. They also contribute to thermal mass, resulting in buildings which need less energy for heating and cooling. Although Quantum only stock a couple of varieties, we can source a huge range of quality bricks in many colours and forms from major UK Manufacturers such as Forterra, Ibstock and Wienerberger.
Blocks
Standard concrete blocks are still the favoured choice for building in Jersey and are ideal for foundations, walls and many other applications. Made of high-quality concrete they can be used in many different types of projects with ensured long-lasting strength. We stock locally manufactured blocks, soap bars and bricks and can easily supply lightweight, hollow and dense blocks to your requirements too.
Standard (7.3N/mm2) blocks are available from stock in sizes:
- 4x9x18″
- 6x9x18″
Lintels
Two types of concrete lintels are available on the market, all of which are high performing and CE marked meaning they are subject to the most stringent tests.
All of our concrete lintels are prestressed, meaning they have heightened strength by way of steel wires which have been set to high tension running through the middle of the lintel.
Standard Lintel
The most cost-effective option for use with load-bearing walls.
Designed to support:
- Masonry loads
- Uniformly distributed timber floor loads
- Uniformly distributed roof loads
- Concrete floor loads
- Attic truss loads
- Point loads: compound trusses, steel beams, etc.
Available from stock in popular sizes from 65x100x900mm up to 65x100x2100mm, and 100x140x900mm up to 100x140x3600mm.
High Strength Lintels
High Strength Lintels look very similar to standard lintels, but they are manufactured with increased load-bearing capabilities.
Designed to support:
- Masonry loads
- Uniformly distributed timber floor loads
- Uniformly distributed roof loads
- Concrete floor loads
- Attic truss loads
- Point loads: compound trusses, steel beams, etc.
High Strength Lintels and also Steel Lintels are available to special order.
