Operations Manager

This is an exciting newly formed role, positioned within the Quantum Management team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operations of the warehouse and transport, whilst ensuring the health & safety and wellbeing of the employees and customers remains a priority.

Our aim is to become our customer’s favourite business partner. This will require strong leadership and full attention to offering the best customer service we can.

Ensuring that employee training, development and cross-departmental communication are upheld to the highest level is paramount to the success of the two departments. Therefore strong people skills are critical. The department also needs to be capable of building and maintaining the right culture to meet the requirements of a modern trading business.

Input would be required on a company strategic level to help the General Manager and Chief Executive shape and drive the future direction of the business & deliver against the goals of the business on a whole.


  • Leading the team to maintain efficiency in all aspects of our delivery and collection procedures and processes
  • Managing the fleet of transport vehicles ensuring compliance with all regulatory safety requirements
  • Managing the goods in function of the business, ensuring that all goods are received promptly, in good order and all associated processes are adhered to
  • Communicating and working with the Sales Manager to aid them in meeting their sales and margin budgets
  • Developing employees, assisting with career development and the capability of all individuals to deliver against the goals of the business
  • Designing and implementing full succession plans for the department with assistance from Human Resources
  • Reviewing and improving the effectiveness and efficiencies within the department
  • Ensuring procedures included within the Group Health & Safety Policy are always adhered to
  • Working closely with the Wellbeing Manager to nurture the wellbeing of all employees
  • Escalating critical issues to management and other duties as assigned

Essential skills & knowledge:

  • Experience at Management level and working within a commercial environment is a prerequisite
  • Ability to manage a large team and to deliver an exceptional collection and delivery service to our customers
  • Ability to work within and lead a team and influence at all levels
  • Works with autonomy and high level of drive and initiative
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A high level of curious and emotional intelligence
  • Commercial awareness and ability to read sales figures to deliver on margin targets
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills
  • Thinks strategically but implements and operates basic customer service and operational activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer service software
